About CIHA:

The Calgary Inclusive Hockey Association (CIHA) was formed with one goal in mind – to create a local hockey organization and social environment with a focus on LGBTQ equality in sports.  Under this registered non-profit association, the Calgary Pioneers have been playing in Winsport’s WHCL recreation hockey league since 2015.  The Villagers had their first season in 2017 and are now our beginner team under the CIHA umbrella.

They are  “Pioneers” of LGBTQ hockey awareness in Alberta and our teams consist of players of all skill levels. They feature year-round official league play with the full support from the WHCL, as well as seasonal skill clinics and social ice times.

The are the hosts of the annual Western Cup Hockey Tournament, which attracts teams from across Canada to play in an LGBTQ friendly environment every spring.

What CHIA Scholarship Program:

The Calgary Inclusive Hockey Association recognizes that the cost to play hockey is often a significant barrier to people's ability to join a team.

Thanks to support from community partners, the CIHA has implemented a scholarship policy to help offset the cost of hockey fees. Interested applicants are invited to apply for a subsidy of between 15% and 50% of their yearly hockey fees.

WE DONATED $116 FROM THE SALE OF CHOCKSTONE PINTS IN THE BANDED TAPROOM IN JANUARY TO THE CALGARY INCLUSIVE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
